Within this range, many of the quarries have several layers or beds of stone (known as benches) that can have different technical and aesthetic properties. Please call and we will be happy to discuss the details.

Carrara
Description: Classic white Italian marble with grey/black veins made famous by Michelangelo’s statue of David.
Suitable for: Internal flooring, External paving, Wall cladding, Masonry, Carving

Bardiglio
Description: Grey marble with white veining from the Carrara quarries.
Suitable for: Internal flooring, External paving, Wall cladding, Masonry, Carving
Other names: n/a

Calacatta
Description: One of the premium marbles of Italy. Usually with a white background and strong veining in black and some other colours depending on the particular type of Calacatta.
Suitable for: Internal flooring, External paving, Wall cladding, Masonry, Carving

Samples of Italian marble
We keep small samples of these and other Italian marbles in our samples showroom in Arborfield near Reading, Berkshire that you can take away with you. We also have some larger samples to view. Small samples can be sent out by post or courier. The samples are free of charge if you cover the cost of the postage.
